Apple Trails, Tasty Treats & ‘Laden with Fruit’ Exhibition @ Hereford Cathedral
Family-friendly apple trail around the cathedral: take part in this self-led, family-friendly activity where you’ll discover all things apple-related, hidden in the architecture and history of Hereford Cathedral. Trails can be collected from the Welcome Desk.
- Tasty treats in the cathedral café: stop by Hereford Cathedral’s café for freshly prepared food and drink. During Hereford AppleFest we will be offering special additions to our menu to celebrate our local agricultural links to cider and apple production.
- ‘Laden with Fruit’ exhibition: Fruit has a literal meaning in Herefordshire, an area known for farms and orchards, but fruit was a rich symbol to Christians long before the orchards were planted. Laden With Fruit explores how the literal meets the symbolic at Hereford Cathedral. The exhibition includes items such as the Herefordshire Pomona and shares some of the history of the cathedral gardens alongside artwork by Jeanette McCulloch and the Ledbury based BookArt Club inspired by the botanical illustrations within the cathedral archive.Runs Monday 9 October – Saturday 30 December 2023
- Keep an eye on our website and social media for information about the cathedral’s historic links with apple harvesting and cider production.
