THE SIXTEENTH JUNIOR MAYOR OF HEREFORD
Emma Hurds 2024
The Junior Mayor of Hereford is a unique and distinguished position, acting as a vital link between young people and Hereford City Council. The Junior Mayor not only attends important events and ceremonies, but helps by listening to and voicing what the young people of Hereford feel about our City.
The position of Junior Mayor was created in 2007, when Hereford City Council inaugurated the position with two objectives: to increase public awareness of the role of the Mayoralty and City Council, and to help educate young people about local government by increasing links between the Mayor of the day and the City’s schools.
Anyone aged 12-17 who lives or is in education in Hereford can be Junior Mayor! All anyone needs to do is fill out the nomination form, where it will be reviewed by a panel including the current Mayor and the Youth Council. The Junior Mayor Making Ceremony will take place in January.
If you would like to invite the Junior Mayor to attend your function or event along with the Mayor please contact the Mayor’s Secretary on 01432 260438, or mayor@herefordcitycouncil.gov.uk
